Do You Have Needy Energy (Without Realizing It)?

Moment of truth…

Have you ever met someone whose energy felt so needy and clingy that you couldn’t get away fast enough?

Logically, you knew they were probably a good person.
But their energy?
It felt heavy. Grasping. Draining.

I’ve definitely had that experience.
And I’m not proud to say: I’ve also been that person… more times than I’d like to admit.

We all have.

Sometimes we’re in needy energy and don’t even realize it.

Last Wednesday, I woke up with anxiety buzzing in my belly.
Nothing “bad” had happened yet, but I could feel that something in me was off.

At around 5 a.m., I sat down to meditate. I brought my awareness to that tight spot in my stomach and just breathed into it.

When the meditation track ended, the discomfort was still there.

So I did it again.

And again.

In total, it took me three separate rounds of sitting in silence, breathing into my belly, and intentionally releasing the anxiety before I felt my body fully let go.

Could I have just powered through my morning? Sure.
But I know myself—and I know the cost.

Anything I do from a state of inner unease will only create more dysregulation on the outside.
So I slow down, so that I can actually speed up later.

During one of those sits, I asked my body, “Why are you feeling this way?”

The answer was immediate:
I was nervous about a podcast interview later that morning with a very well-known self-development icon.

Underneath that nervousness was something more vulnerable:

I needed them to see me.
To validate me.
To approve of me.

In other words… I was in needy energy.

Had I not cleared that neediness, I have no doubt they would have felt it—consciously or unconsciously—and been repelled by it.

The very outcome my ego wanted (“Pick me! Approve of me!”) would have been pushed further away by the energy I was broadcasting.

So in that meditation, I didn’t just release the anxiety.
I consciously recoded my state with a new truth:

“I am already whole.”

By the time the interview started—lights on, cameras rolling—I felt calm, grounded, and aligned.

And here’s the crazy part:

Not only did they see me…
They couldn’t stop talking about my energy.

Live on camera, they said:
“Wow, your energy exudes so much love.”

Same person.
Different energy.
Completely different experience.

Why this matters to you:

Every single day, your energy is speaking louder than your words.

It’s either magnifying your brilliance and magnetically drawing the right people and opportunities toward you…

Or it’s quietly repelling the very things you say you want.

Needy energy says:
“I’m not enough without you / this / that outcome.”

Whole energy says:
“I am already enough—and from that place, I’d love to create with you.”

One pushes.
The other attracts.

Today, at some point, you’re going to feel triggered, anxious, or off-center.
When it happens, don’t shame yourself. Don’t power through.

Just pause.
Breathe.
Bring your attention to where you feel it in your body and ask:

“What am I needing from outside of me right now that I could give to myself from within?”

Then choose a new state. Choose wholeness.
